Custom Marrina Smallwood retro style Toy Biz custom action figure by Hunter Knight Customs
Here is another retro style action figure I was commissioned to do a few years ago. Marrina Smallwood began as an Age Of Apocalypse Jean Grey figure (From Secret Weapon Force). Her feet and right hand were cut and replaced with more aesthetical ones, hair changed and then...the real job began:
Anyone working on traditional sculpture knows that making chain mail or scales, is a complete pain in the ass. Each scale has to be individually cut, flattened and pressed on row by row, line by line. (Hence you should always charge accordingly) I took inspiration from the great Karen Palinko and how she sculpted the scales on the DC Direct Blackest Night Mera. After weeks of work, and a quick paint job -something I love about retro figures is how quickly you can paint them - Marrina along with Shaman was ready to join the rest of my customer's Alpha Flight retro team!
